Description: This is always a fantastically fun and competitive way to end the week, with teams racing 4 laps of a 500 m course. There are 4 competitions in one, with a family team winner, a female team winner, a male team winner and a mixed team winner!
Your team has to be made up of a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 4. Any one person can swim a maximum of 2 legs in the relay. This is a non-chip event, so times will be taken manually.
If you are a solo swimmer or are travelling in a group that needs extra swimmers to make a relay team you can still enter! As BEST Fest is such a friendly event it is common for swimmers to arrange their own teams with new friends during the week, but we will also happily place you into a team or arrange additional team members for you ‘on the day’.

Important info: TThe relay will include ‘in water’ take-overs between swimmers. Mixed relay teams MUST be 2 male and 2 female swimmers!

Feeding stations: There are no feeding stations for this event.

Registration: Registration and goody bag collection takes place from Saturday 25^th of May at the BEST Centre. Late arrivals may register their arrival, collect their goody bag etc on the morning of the event at the start beach.
Late entries for this event will be accepted throughout the week and at the event village immediately after the ‘Round the Islands’ event on Friday 31^st May. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE TAKEN AT THE POOL ON FRIDAY 31^st. We will also accept late entries on the beach immediately before the event (cut-off time 10.00 am).
Entrants must reconfirm their entry on the beach, immediately prior to each event.

Declaration: All swimmers are obliged to sign a declaration saying they are capable of swimming 500 m. Existing medical conditions and medicines being taken at the time of the swim must also be declared for safety & insurance reasons.

Health & Safety: There will be a swimmers safety brief immediately prior to the event. Unless otherwise stated this will take place at the start point. Entrants must attend.
Water depth on this event will be between 0m and 6m.
Water temperature will be around 19C, but is variable based on weather patterns and water depth.

Medical Cover: Fully qualified medical cover is available during the event via safety boats and also at the start/finish points. Any illnesses or injuries occurring as a consequence of participation must be reported as soon as possible to the event medical team.

Wetsuits: Optional.

Start & finish: This will be a mixed beach start and an ‘on the beach’ finish.

Refreshments: There will be a selection of free refreshments available at the finish point. Please take rehydration and nutrition seriously to ensure rapid and full recovery.
